Dems Oppose 80% of Americans

It floors me that you can't buy cigarettes or alcohol, you can't board a plane or cash a check without a photo ID, but you can vote without one. What floors me even more is that Dems fight tooth and nail against such common sense legislation.

"...The eyebrow-raising news is that every Democratic senator opposed what would appear to be a no-brainer of an idea. . . . A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll last month found that 80% of Americans favored a requirement that photo ID be shown at the polls, with only 7% opposed. Nonetheless, every Democratic senator lined up in opposition -- a clear a sign that the interest groups that support Democrats must feel threatened by the idea of ballot security."

while the Dems are not making sense on this issue, I should point out that the GOP is no champion of voting rights. They put up a furious fight against the motor-voter law of the mid 1990s, which would automatically register people to vote when they received or renewed a drivers license. What would the GOP have to fear by making it easier for more people to vote? I wonder...

We actually just passed a law that you have to have a photo id to vote in the Missouri House & Senate. Our governor will sign it shortly. I was talking to some people who work in the Missouri Republican party. They said it will significantly cut down on fraud and thus will inevitably help republicans since the corrupt dems in St. Louis so often have dead people vote. Which explains why the dems complained to high heaven about how awful this would be when it passed. I just don't get how having a photo id to vote is a bad thing. I would think both parties would want to weed out fraud but obviously not!!

Southpaw...the problem with Motor Voter is you don't have to be a citizen to get a driver's license. Also all it did was artifically inflate the voter rolls which in turn allows for more fraud.

If someone is too lazy to walk down the hall when they get their license to register to vote, do you really think they will go vote.

LMC...don't be surprised if some liberal judge blocks it before your next election.
