The Game Begins

Now that both conventions are over, the real fun begins, and fun it will be. McCain's decision to name Palin as VP stole all the air out of the Dem convention and then her speech at the Repub convention has completely energized the base like McCain could not do for the last 6 months.

Dems are trying to say that McCain can no longer attack Obama on experience due to his pick. That is completely ridiculous. First, Obama is the PRESIDENTIAL nominee and Palin is McCain's VP nominee. McCain has the experience to LEAD the ticket whereas Palin is going to get great on the job training as VP, not PRESIDENT as it should be. Second, Palin actually does have MORE practical experience than Obama, so they would do well to drop that line very quickly.

The Silent Majority woke up when Sarah Palin was selected as McCain's running mate and they are NOT going back to sleep.

Tens of thousands have flocked to McCain Palin events since the convention with the same level of energy that used to be the hallmark of Obama events.

P.S. Stay tuned for this story: thousands of American flags found discarded in the trash after Dem convention

I don't know of a V.P. pick that has energized a campaign as much as Palin has in my lifetime? She reminds me of Jindal, a young, up and coming, Reagan conservative.

Glad to hear about your family. We also faired well. Down branches, missing shingles, lost power for 4 days. VERY tired.

so who is this brad hanson dude everyone is talking about?

I'm sure this has just as much truth behind it as the rumors that the left tried to start that her last child wasn't hers. Pretty pitiful. And if this one would happen to be true, did she lie under oath about it? If she didn't why are you so concerned about it? Ya'll just keep proving over and over that ya'll can't touch her on the issues by constantly latching on to one personal rumor after the other. I thought you were above that Southpaw, guess I was mistaken.

in your own words, CT- "A bit touchy, are we?"

just asked a question, that's all...

as for issues, how's hypocrisy?

the washington post reports:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee who revealed Monday that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, earlier this year used her line-item veto to slash funding for a state program benefiting teen mothers in need of a place to live.

After the legislature passed a spending bill in April, Palin went through the measure reducing and eliminating funds for programs she opposed. Inking her initials on the legislation — “SP” — Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers.

not touchy at all...just sad to see you have chosen to stoop to the dispicable level of the Daily Kos crowd.

Nice try, but how is it hypocrisay to think the government has no business in funding programs that should and can be funded by private organizations and then cutting funding for such programs? Hypocrisy would have been to criticize the programs but then use them herself which I doubt her daughter will do.

Hey Leftist: Why don't you step forward and start a campaign to raise money for those Alaska programs?

Instead of doing what libs do best, which is to expect everyone else to chip in via taxes, why don't you put your money where your mouth is?

The leftist southpaw said...

because unlike you, I believe the government should play a role in the collective welfare of its citizens.

"we the people, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE..."

Cajun Tiger said...

yes promote the general welfare, not PAY for the general welfare...big difference.

The leftist southpaw said...

oh, I see. My mistake.

And now it turns out Palin didn't cut funds for a teen pregancy center but did decrease the rate of increase from 454% to 354%.

Some cut hunh?
