Better Fuel Mileage
MSN.com has a neat article posted this morning on how simple things like backing into a parking space and turning off your engine during long stops can add 25% or more miles per gallon to any car you drive. Very helpful as gas prices rise...see and who said you can't find anything useful on blogs!!! =)

You will never save gas the way you drive. Your foot has 3435 lbs attached to it.
Hey...I haven't had a speeding ticket in 10 years!
CORRECTION: the article does not say backing into a parking space so you can pull forward saves on gas mileage. It says *avoid* backing up period, as that causes increased gas usage. So with parking, pull into spots that you can continue pulling forward in to get out, so that you don't have to back up. Great article!
ahhh...good catch Shannon...guess I can stop backing in to my parking spot at home now...lol But will definitely work this tactic in the MBC parking garage! =)
Shane, I ended up trying out some of those things listed in the article (going the speed limit, no air condition/windows only, coasting to the stop lights, not gunning it, limiting backing up, etc) and whoa. I usually get about 300 miles to a tank, maybe a little less. Since the 'change', I've gotten 350 miles on each of two tanks. Almost a 20% increase! It freaked me out. That's like $40/month in gas I'm saving.
I also got my air filter changed, and the guy said that should add 5-10% efficiency as well. Just a heads up. Thanks again for the article.
