Rush More Dangerous Than Hurricanes

You would think that informing the public about a hurricane is more important than any political agenda, right? Well, that is not the case in Broward County, FL. The county commission is trying to cancel its contract with a radio station that broadcasts hurricane warnings and information. The reason...it broadcasts Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity's radio programs!!! So much for public safety. Apparently in FL silencing Rush is far more important. And here I thought the libs were supposed to be the great protectors of free speech...I'm so confused!

It is amazing the lengths that many are willing to go to silence us on the right.

How about that Ron Paul? For guys like me looking for a good 3rd party to bring the USA back to its constitutional roots, he seems hopeful. I'd love to hear your thoughts on him.

LMC...they know they can't compete so they throw free speech out the window. It just shows you the power of conservative ideas that they can control 99% of the media, yet they are so scared of the other 1%.

Gered...while I do like a lot of what Dr. Paul has to say and how he votes, the only thing a third party candidate will do is give the election to the other side. For that reason I can't support a 3rd party run. I'm glad he is in the Repub primary as he does force them to come to the right, but I really hope he doesn't attempt a 3rd party run.

He's stated he WILL NOT run under a 3rd party label. I just meant that especially as a REP, he's the best we could hope for that's similar to a 3rd party.

I'm fully convinced its the current system that is the problem and the current system contains Republicans and Democrats. If we could get the news channels to stop diverting our attention away from important issues by using Britney Spears & Paris Hilton, the common people will see exactly how far away from the Constitution we have drifted.

Ron Paul is a disaster, I would feel better if he ran on a 3rd party because he does not represent what Republicans believe, especially on the war on terror.

By the way, the radio station has backtracked on this because of the backlash :-).

LMC:

Ron Paul does't represent what the Republican Party believes? The only issue he separates from them is the War on Terror and so-called free trade agreements.

Then again, the power-brokers in the GOP have increased the size of government and don't want real immigration reform.

When it comes to domestic issues, there's not a single GOP Pres. candidate who can rival Ron Paul.

Just because his views of the War on Terror may not be the same as ours, Republicans/conservative can't deny that he is truly a conservative socially/economically. The GOP should actually spend more time listening to him and less time trying to dismiss him.

LMC...I'll have to agree with Nick on that one. While I don't agree with Paul on the war (he has been against it from the beginning so at least he is consistent unlike the Dems), free trade and legalizing drugs, he is the most consistent economic conservative and social conservative on the Hill. He and Tancredo, while neither have a chance to win, serve a purpose in the Repub party to bring them more to the right. As long as he doesn't mount a 3rd party campaign I have no ill will towards him.
