Miers Withdraws

Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination to the Supreme Court. The official line is that the Senate was going to keep pushing for White House documents, but of course that isn't the real reason.

The attacks from the Right continued to come unabated, with the latest coming from Concerned Women for America asking for her withdrawal. Her 1993 speech giving credence to some of the arguments that led to Roe v. Wade might have been the proverbial straw that broke the back.

Now it will be interesting to see how the President reacts to what he will surely see as a betrayal from conservatives. Will he admit his mistake and nominate a proven conservative, or will he stick it to conservatives even worse and nominate Gonzales or another blank slate?

The fun continues!!!
