Tough Question - Great Answer

I don't normally pass on email spam, but here is on that I really enjoyed!!!

Cindy Sheehan asked President Bush, "Why did my son have to die in Iraq?"
Another mother asked President Kennedy, "Why did my son have to die in Vietnam?"
Another mother asked President Truman, "Why did my son have to die in Korea?
Another mother asked President F.D. Roosevelt, "Why did my son have to die at Iwo Jima?"

Another mother asked President W. Wilson, "Why did my son have to die on a battlefield in France?"
Yet another mother asked President Lincoln, "Why did my son have to die at Gettysburg?"
And yet another mother asked President G. Washington, "Why did my son have to die near Valley Forge?"

Then long, long ago, a mother asked, "Heavenly Father, why did my Son have to die on a cross outside of Jerusalem?"

The answers to all these are similar -- "that others may have life and dwell in peace, happiness and freedom."

IF YOU DON'T STAND BEHIND OUR TROOPS, PLEASE, FEEL FREE TO STAND IN FRONT OF THEM!!!

Makes me wonder what Zarqawi says to the mother of a dead insurgent who asks the same question.

kayne-

please expand on your last comment. All U.S. military? All military around the world?

While any soldier who gives his life is to be honored, I'm not sure that each one is comparable to the death of Jesus. If it were, would the president be so quick to put them in harms way?

Wow!!!! That is awesome and powerful!! I hadn't seen that yet. Thanks!!

Quite a bit of clarity needed on these comments.

HD...I'm not sure what you are intending on implying with your comment, but I surely hope you are not trying to say that the murderous thugs are in any way the moral equivalent of our soldiers.

ML...who is all talk and what will they not do? Was that in response to the last line of the post?

Kayne...same question as Southpaw...when you say ALL do you mean all militaries no matter which side they fight on or all militaries on our side or all US forces?

Southpaw...while I absolutely agree that every American or coalition soldier who gives his or her life fighting is due a huge honor and our continued freedom is owed to them, no death is comparable to the death of Jesus as His death was for ALL people (this does include the murderous thugs).

LMC...I definitely agree.

CT-

thought you'd like to know that twice I have posted on LMC's blog, and twice she has removed my comments. Since readers of her blog probably won't read what I have to say, I hope you don't mind if I post a message to her here, where I know my comments will not be removed, regardless of content.

LMC, it's your blog and you make the rules, but you are the first blogger, liberal or conservative, that has removed my comments. Take a lesson from CT- you may not agree with my statements, but there are better ways to address your disdain than censorship.

Southpaw, it's obvious that she doesn't like you.

A little advice; Conservative women are the most beautiful, classy, highly intelligent women on the face of the earth! You got to approach them with respect! You know. Be kind, sweet, charming...

Better yet, maybe you should just leave her alone.

Southpaw...as I have no control over LMC's policies on her blog, not much I can do but invite her to respond to this comment which I'll do.

My policy is anyone is free to post whatever they like as long as they keep the language clean.

Ron-

my point exactly.

I may not like you, but your comments are welcome at www.southpawspot.blogspot.com

Leftist southpaw:
Everybody has different policies on what they allow on their blog. I have several liberals that engage in coherent debate that I allow on my blog. But both times you commented I felt like you left snide, drive-by comments that didn't appear like you actually want to engage in thoughtful debate.

And I didn't set up my blog to become a debating ground between liberals and conservatives. I have to listen to the MSM push their drivel down my throat everyday. As I've told trolls in the past your first amendment rights apply to your free speech on your blog not mine.

I'm sorry if this angers you but I don't really understand why so many liberals always want to comment on conservative sites anyway. If Shane is gracious enough to let you comment here thats great. Kudos to him.

I just now read your comment. LOL--Thanks :-)!!

My comment wasn't intended to equate servicemen with terrorists, though I can understand how it could be read that way. I think that the "answer," while heartwarming, doesn't provide much closure. It can be used in any context to justify a death, even those that are for an abhorrent cause.

LMC...thanks for the response...I think my mediating duties have now been fulfilled...lol

You make a great point on free speech. I love how liberals try to rely on public ignorance of the first amendment to push their views. Censorship only applies to the government, not to private citizens and publications they own or run. Another thing that annoys me on that topic is how they confuse the right to free speech with a made of right that everyone has to hear their speech.

HD...I'm glad you aren't equating the two. The difference I see in the answer is that when your targets are legitmate military targets then you are allowed the moral high ground, but when you target innocent women and children, you have no basis for a moral answer to your butchery and mothers would see right through such lies.

Shane:
Thanks for understanding. I didn't want to create any problems for you during this whole scenario.
