Cowardly and Despicable Part 3

The Dems have another new plan to defund the war without having to have the courage and integrity to vote on it straight up. After the backlash of the original plan to tie the President's hand by changing readiness requirements, they are now going to attempt to fill the war supplemental with pork projects. Knowing that the President would never veto a bill to fund the troops they will load it up with pork projects that would never pass any other way.

We should get out of Iraq. We entered under false pretenses and now are reaping what we sow. Wait, find any WMD's? Noooooo. Find any al Qaeda plot with Saddam? Noooooo. Did Georgie Bush get even with Saddam for trying to harm his daddy? Yesssss.

And what about the 17 UN violations, the giving money to suicide bombers, the shooting at our planes, the Al Qaeda base in Iraq, the fact that every nation and intelligence agency in the world said he had WMDs? Care to tackle any of those very valid reasons?

Whatever. The UN is nothing more than a medium the US uses for its own goals. We could make up violations all day. Oh, forgot that we occupied Iraq in Gulf I and had sorties flying constantly over sovereign territory? Doesn't Iraq have the same rights to sovereign airspace as anyone else?! We'd be firing at them too. There was no al Qaeda base in Iraq. Every nation said that because the US said that. Can the entire world be wrong about a country that was under an embargo and had no economic assistance coming to it? Where were they getting the materiel for these WMD's? Yellow cake from Nigeria?! Drink the Kool-Aid Cajun.

That was part of the cease fire that IRAQ agreed to. The minute they fired at one of our jets we had every legal right to attack them, but decided to wait way to long in my opinion.

Yep, Russia and China always say whatever we say.

Ever heard of that little oil-for-food scandal that gave Saddam billions to do whatever he wanted to with illegally.

As far as the Kook-aid, you might be the one who needs to lay off.

Hold on Cajun, turn the other cheek now.

Is that in reference to you or to Iraq?

--Keep drinking the Kool Aid Cajun. The fact of the matter is that cease fire or not, the US presence there was unreasonable for a sovereign nation to endure. Why would the US upset the balance of the region they fought so hard to maintain when supplying Saddam to fight Iran? Now we are faced with a hegemonic power of Iran controlling the region.

"Yep, Russia and China always say whatever we say."

--Who created the UN? Who contributes the most to the UN? Think that money has no strings? Kool Aid time.

"Ever heard of that little oil-for-food scandal that gave Saddam billions to do whatever he wanted to with illegally."

--Who are we to tell a sovereign nation how to spend their money?!?! And again, who was selling these WMDs to them again? Where were they getting the materiel? Right, Kool Aid time.

"As far as the Kook-aid, you might be the one who needs to lay off."

--As a Christian, I am surprised you take that hostile tone with me.

Yep...how very hostile of me to suggest drinking Kool Aid.

I don't care if Iraq liked it or not. They agreed to those terms at the end of the war. That is what happens after a war. The loser has to abide by the winners demands. If they don't then the winner has the complete legal right to enforce the agreed upon terms.

Yeah, the UN is all Pro-US. Everything they do is Pro-US. That's why nearly everything they do is so anti-US.

Have you really, I mean really, read up on some of these projects that got attached? One is for saving the wetlands in LA so that killer hurricanes like Katrina won't do as much damage as it did. One is for drought relief in the mid-west. How can those be pork?

Cajun Tiger said...

Jules...they are pork when they are attached to a bill that has nothing to do with those issues. If you want drought relief attach it to an agriculture bill. If you want marshland restoration attach it to an interior bill. Don't attach it to a military bill b/c you want to make it harder for people to vote against the pet project and against funding for the troops at the same time. That is why it is cowardly and despicable in my book.

I agree with the cowardly and despicable. Unfortunately, I don't think the original project makers had any say in their projects being attached to the war bill. Now THAT is C&D. Sneaking it in on them like that.

Jiles...usually they do know b/c the leadership won't put the project on the bill until they know they have the members support first and that the political blackmail will be successful.
