The Defeat Caucus

The Senate Dems (minus Lieberman) have joined the House Dems (minus a few brave members) to embolden our enemy and do their absolute best to hand victory over to our enemies with their vote to stipulate a deadline for troops to be out of Iraq completely against their Constitutional authority and the advice of the military leaders. The saddest thing in this whole mess is the fact that the only way they could pass this horrible bill is by bribing and blackmailing unprincipled Dems with pork for their districts.

No Clearance Required

You might want to sit down for this one. Do you know that members of Congress and their staff are not required to go through security background checks before receiving Top Secret Clearance and sometime even SCI clearance (even higher than Top Secret) which allows them to view classified information? Did you also know that they are not even required to have any training on how to handle sensitive information at all???

Every single person in the White House and the Pentagon that has access to classified information has to have at minimum a Secret Clearance which involves an FBI background check and interview, yet members of Congress and staff are given clearance with no check whatsoever.

Any wonder how so many of national security documents are being leaked to the media. You have members of Congress like Jefferson and Hastings who couldn't even qualify for my position yet they are automatically cleared to view highly sensitive national security documents if they are on the right committees.

This has to be fixed. Chuck Muth has three great proposals to fix this very dangerous problem.

Old Habits Die Hard

Whenever I do the Close Up debates, in my opening statement, I usually say something along the lines of, "You always know who is in charge of Congress. If tax increases are being proposed then it is the Dems b/c they believe they can spend your hard earned money better than you can. If tax cuts are being proposed then it is the Repubs b/c they believe you can spend your hard earned money better than the government can."

Well, once again this is unfortunately being proven true. In their first budget proposal since taking control, the Dems have proposed the biggest tax increase in American history (they broke their 1993 record, which is the last time they had control). Their budget will result in $393 Billion in new taxes over the next 5 years. Not only will this choke the economic growth of the last 4 years, it will reverse it.

Micromanaging Defeat

I thought that the Libs were going off the deep end by putting a firm date on withdrawal as that is handing victory to the terrorists who could just hide and wait. However, there is a provision in the Democratic Defeat Act that passed the House on Friday that is even more dangerous were it to pass.

In Chapter 9, Sec 1901, Part b it reads:

None of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available in this or any other Act may be used to deploy any unit of the Armed Forces to Iraq unless the chief of the military department concerned has certified in writing to the Committees on Appropriations and the Committees on Armed Services at least 15 days in advance of the deployment that the unit is fully mission capable.

Are you kidding me!!! That is the epitome of overstepping their Constitutional limits by telling the President and the military commanders that they must notify Congress 15 days prior to any deployment. You can't fight a war like that!!! Can you imagine if this passed? We receive intelligence on a target in Iraq and the best unit to carry out the operation is in Kuwait. They would have to wait 15 DAYS before they would be able to act on it. That is absolutely ridiculous.

They knew full well that by putting completely insane provisions like that in the bill it would never pass. This is the slow bleed strategy that they hope instead of having to vote to defund the troops they will try to delay funding as long as possible through political games. Very sad indeed!

Is AlGore Smarter Than a 6th Grader?

After seeing the evidence from both sides of the global warming debate, the majority of 6th graders in the class concluded that it is not human caused. Maybe AlGore should go back to 6th grade as he apparently is not smarter than a 6th grader.

Constitutional Subversion by the Dems

Can someone please send copies of the Constitution to the Dems because they obviously have no idea what is written in it. Three times this week they have completely ignored the Constitution to push their own liberal agendas.

First is the whole US Attorney non-scandal. The Constitution says in Article 2, Section 2:

The President shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for

The President has the right to fire anyone he appoints for any reason he chooses, even political ones. If they don't want him to have the power to do that for US Attorneys then they need to amend the Constitution to lay out the process of appointing them. Good luck with that. They know they could never pass that, so instead they will try and subvert the Constitutional separation of powers and demand who can and can't be fired. Intersting how they didn't care this much when Rumsfeld "resigned" for political reasons.

The next issue is DC getting a vote in Congress. Let's read the Constitution, Article 1, Section 2:

The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several STATES

DC is not a state. Therefore it gets no vote in Congress. If the Libs believe they should then the process is to amend the Constitution. Oh wait...they tried that and it failed. So, instead of obeying the Constitution they think they can just re-write it to fit there desires being they know that a DC vote means one extra vote for them as DC votes nearly 90% Democrat.

And finally and the most dangerous of all is the Dems complete lack of respect for the President's Constitutional role as Commander in Chief. The only power Congress has is to approve military actions, which it did, and the power of the purse. However, being they know that if tried to cut off the funds like the wacky left wants, they wouldn't stand a chance, so instead they once again overstep their Constitutional authority and put a deadline for the President to remove troops. Even that they were only barely able to do that, 118-112 due to blackmailing Members by sending over $20 billion dollars in pork to districts in exchange for their vote. We have just become less safe, the enemy is emboldened further, and the Iraqi citizens will have even more reasons to not help us for fear of reprisals when we leave.

Solar System Warming

Wow...not only are we as humans causing the Earth to warm, we must be causing it in the entire solar system as NASA is reporting that Mars, Saturn, one of Neptune's moons and Pluto all show signs of warming. Hmmm....SOLAR system...is it just me or maybe this could be a SOLAR cause and not human? Nah...that would make too much sense.

The Popeye Strategy?

It appears the Dems have a new strategy in fighting the War on Terror. It's the Popeye Strategy. I bet you only thought he was a comic book character, but apparently the Dems believe he is real. Why else would a war supplemental funding bill need $25 million for spinach growers!!! That is just one of several pork projects lining the bill totalling up to $20 billion. Back to business as usual and it didn't even take 3 months.

Blanco is Out!

PoliticsLA.com is reporting that LA Gov. Blanco is dropping out of the Governor's race. I can't believe she ever thought she stood a chance in the first place after her complete meltdown during Katrina. I still don't think this was totally her decision, but more likely extreme pressure for the State party.

In one of my posts below recapping the Gathering of Eagles event, I asked "Where's Old Glory?" That post made it into the Rightometers daily blog brief. While reading the brief and watching the videos (all must see!!!) I saw myself in one of them....so time for another game...Where's Cajun Tiger? Can you find me. Hillary Gets "Tough" on Iran

Who said Hillary Clinton isn't tough on the bad guys? Take a look at this quote from a fundraiser this weekend, "I turn off a light and say, ‘Take that, Iran ,‘ and "Take that, Venezuela.‘ We should not be sending our money to people who are not going to support our values," she said."

I bet they are just shaking with fear after that display of strength!

Gathering of Eagles De-Brief

Yesterday was a truly historic day. I'm pretty sure this is the first time ever that a counter-protest has outnumbered an anti-war protest in DC. With at most 10,000 people on the anti-war side, the Eagles easily matched and maybe even outnumbered them (most are saying doubled or possibly even triple in number and I would agree...reason it was hard to estimate our side was b/c Eagles were spread out everywhere protecting monuments and along the parade route). Even though the MSM failed to cover our side, it was very apparent to all who were there who was representing and who wasn't. If this is the best they can do on the 4 year anniversary of Iraq and 40 year anniversary of the huge Vietnam protest on the Mall, then Fonda and her ilk must be fuming.

It was funny b/c during their rally Skye heard them announce several times for the crowd to move in towards the stage. This was to try and make the camera shots of the crowd look big. Due to the small numbers and the big field they were in, it made the already small number look even smaller.

It really was a striking display the difference in the flags of the two groups. I've only given you a small sampling of what was there. Another one I saw that I wish I could have gotten a clear picture of but couldn't due to people in the way was an American flag, but in the place of the stars were corporate logos like Nike, Microsoft, Coke and others I guess to say we are no longer a country of states but of evil corporations.

Calling All Eagles

Update:

Well, after a couple of fun exchanges with a couple of new libs in the comments section, I've decided to change my plans tomorrow morning and make a whole day out of it. Despite the forecast of snow and below freezing temps, I'll be there to join a whole list of other bloggers that have frequented the comments section on here. Among the ones I know as of now are: Skye (who will be posting live pictures to her site and if I can figure that one out I'll try to do the same), Grizzly Mama, Troll, and Always on Watch. And as I mentioned in the previous post, Mike will be blogging live and talking to us on the phone so swing by his site for the play by play. Stay tuned for what I'm sure will be very telling.

I'm also pumped that Rolling Thunder will be there as well. If you have never been in DC over Memorial Weekend, you are definitely missing out. It is one of my favorite holidays to be in DC. One of the highlights is the Rolling Thunder groups rally on usually the Saturday before Memorial Day. They come in from all over the country on mostly Harleys...hence the name Rolling Thunder. It is definitely a sight and sound to behold!

If anyone in DC wants to join me, give me a call so we can meet up tomorrow morning and go over together.

93 Good...8 Bad

This whole "scandal" over the US Attorneys being fired is ridiculous. And then to have Hillary leading the charge is even crazier. So, I guess if President Bush had fired all 93 attorneys as Clinton did, it would have been ok, but being he only fired 8, then he is playing politics. You really have to love the double standard of the Dems!

After making it to the Final Four last year, LSU didn't even make the NIT this year. What's up with that???

History Insults Iranians

The Iranian government is all upset about the way the movie "300" retells history. First off, I'd be willing to bet that 99% of the people watching the movie have no idea that the Persians in the movie are the historical relatives of the Iranians of today. Second, they may try to rewrite history as much as they like, but the truth of the movie is just that, truth. A few very courageous men battle a huge army of invaders and while they all died, their sacrifice saved many lives.

It is a great analogy of today. We have men and women in our armed forces who are bravely sacrificing so much so that we may continue to enjoy the freedoms we have in this country. To bad there are many Dems that are just like the traitor in the movie that would rather see us lose as opposed to a victory that would benefit President Bush and the Repubs.

The movie is definitely very violent and they unfortunately has a couple of sexually explicit scenes, but the courage and loyalty shown by the King and his men should serve as an example of what can be accomplished if we were united as a country against the same enemy faced over 2000 years ago by the Spartans.

Cowardly and Despicable Part 3

The Dems have another new plan to defund the war without having to have the courage and integrity to vote on it straight up. After the backlash of the original plan to tie the President's hand by changing readiness requirements, they are now going to attempt to fill the war supplemental with pork projects. Knowing that the President would never veto a bill to fund the troops they will load it up with pork projects that would never pass any other way.

Government Run Health Care?

As tragic as the revelations coming out of the Walter Reed debacle are, this is nothing new to the thousands of military veterans who have used VA hospitals over the years. This should be a very glaring sign that the last thing in the world we want is government run health care. If they can't even take care of veterans, how do you think they will do with regular citizens? When there is no competition, there is no reason to do more than the minimums. As sad as that is, it is human nature and should give everyone pause who thinks they want the government to run the entire health care system of our country.

Gore Profits From 'Carbon Offsets'

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for the all knowing inventor of the internet and savior of the world, AlGore, there is new evidence coming up that he is possibly profiting from promoting 'carbon offsets.' I bet he is really wishing he hadn't invented the internet now b/c without the new media, he quite possibly could pull of his global warming fraud.

Pay or Collect or Both?

A newspaper has found a very interesting twist in Presidential candidate Barak Obama's past. His ancestors on his mother's side, who are white, were slave owners. So, as a liberal, I assume he supports the idea of reparations. If that were to ever pass, would he have to pay himself?

Appeasement or Tactical?

I have to agree with Rush that I'm confused and floored by the new tactics concerning Iran, Syria and North Korea. Also as he says, I can only hope that this is just a tactic to show the liberals once and for all that you can't negotiate with these evil regimes and not a change in official strategy. If it is a change in strategy, then it would be a very grave mistake and would do nothing to make us safer or win the war on terror.

All Over for McCain

In my humble opinion, McCain has just ended his presidential hopes. He refused an invitation to speak at the biggest conservative convention of the year. Not a very smart move at all. Not that I thought he had a chance before anyway, but I think this will definitely be the final straw for many more conservatives who were still considering him.
