The Popeye Strategy?

It appears the Dems have a new strategy in fighting the War on Terror. It's the Popeye Strategy. I bet you only thought he was a comic book character, but apparently the Dems believe he is real. Why else would a war supplemental funding bill need $25 million for spinach growers!!! That is just one of several pork projects lining the bill totalling up to $20 billion. Back to business as usual and it didn't even take 3 months.

I read about this yesterday. It seems to me a crime that the Dems are using real projects, that some lawmakers have been working on for years that would truly help their constituents, to garner votes for the war bill. Seems to me to be akin to blackmail. "Your project is in here, vote yes or forfeit your project". How do you explain that you voted yes to the war bill to save your project, or you voted no on the war bill and no for your project in the process. Crying shame. Makes me lose respect for our lawmakers.

Blackmail is basically what it is and unfortunately both parties are guilty.

At least I'm glad you've admitted that both parties are guilty of this. George Bush has done more harm to the environment & lined more Big Oil pockets than one could count on both hands with this kind of stunt!

bipart...yes both parties have used projects in home districts to get votes, but this goes way beyond anything before b/c they are using the soldiers as pawns and putting them at risk to pass a bill that wouldn't have been passed otherwise.

As far as you Bush bash, enjoy the koolaid or give some specifics.
