Zero Fun

Having a head cold in the states is not much fun, but having one here in Iraq is Zero Fun (if you can name the movie "Zero Fun " comes from, I'll let you guest post a topic of your choice...hint...it is one of my all time favorite movies)

You can barely breathe here as it is due to all the dust in the air. Add on top of that a clogged nose due to a sinus cold and it is absolutely miserable. That is the state I was in the last three days. Thankfully it cleared up last night.

On the bright side, I got a lot of reading done. I finished four books in three days!!! I'll do a few reviews of them over the next couple of days.

I translate if you don't read French:
It's good that Iraq has been freed from Saddam Hussein.US army should have make it in 1991 by the rest.
But since three years Iraqi population has taken US presence as occupation. Sept.11 trauma has shocked all us but revenge is perceivable.
United States are a democracy which is from the Houses of Parliament so the exactions of Haditha, Abu Ghraib and CIA in Uzbekistan or elsewhere are UNBEARABLE. Even an anecdot: why don't you learn Arabic in order to be understood by the population?
Acadian-Cajun people knows very well as unacceptable the State(British) violence because of the Deportation of 1763.

I hope the campain is not so harsh and I hope for you good continuation in homeland when you will be back there

Pierre...Thanks for the post...I was able to read most of your French post =)

I agree that we should have finished the job in '91, but we didn't. Nothing we can do about that, but how is leaving before the job is done this time any better?

They viewed as occupation from the beginning as they would no matter who it would be because they are a very proud people and want to run their own country. However they also know that if we leave to early, what is left behind would be way worse.

I am learning Arabic with the hope of better understanding the people I interact with.
