Shop Till You Drop!!!

Apparently the ILLEGAL immigrants and their enablers are planning a boycott on Monday, May 1 to show how "dependent" the economy is on ILLEGAL immigrants.

Well here is a better idea. Let's show them how great of a country it would be without ILLEGAL immigrants. Let's all shop till we drop on May 1. I'll make sure to do some online shopping to do my part =)

Before I even begin this you need to know something very important about the immigration situation. It is NOT only ILLEGAL immigrants that are offended by the currently proposed legislation. It is pretty much ALL immigrants. And when that strike occurs on May 1, it will NOT be ILLEGAL immigrants alone. You just have no idea the caliber of the weapon that could go off. A lot of immigrants came to this country illegally and are NOW citizens because they've been here long enough...this proposed legislation will wipe them off the map too. And these people's families aren't going to stick around for the aftermath. Immigrants work in EVERY field...and you go can try to shop all you want...you can't run a business without WORKERS. Albertson's and Kroger's don't open if NOBODY shows up to work. Gas stations don't open...schools don't open...banks don't open... it doesn't matter how many people want to shop and "stick it to 'em". You still can't run a business without help.

And continuing on...

BEWARE when you go out on the limb about immigrants. Whether you like it or not, immigrants ARE in FACT a vital part of our economy. In case you were unaware: immigrants, second and third generation immigrants and non-citizens make up almost 80% of our population. If you kicked all the immigrants out, you'd be left with a pretty empty country. I know my family would be gone...and before you berade me or tell me why you're better than me, remember that you're speaking to the daughter of a U.S. Military Officer who has been more places and seen more death (including Iraq) than you could ever imagine and descendant of two men who fought FOR the U.S. in World War II and World War I, even against the country of their heritage. I work hard and my mother works hard and my brother and sister and their husbands (one of which is ARABIC btw...how ya like them apples???) work hard and contribute to this society and everything in it. And MOST immigrants DO. My family says the pledge of allegiance happily, my family uses American products and American cars and we go to AMERICAN schools. Always have. I have lived in America from the time of conception all through gestation and birth and all of my life. I'm a third generation immigrant and I'm PROUD of where I come from. I am PROUD of the things that are in my family. I am PROUD to say that I have NON-AMERICAN family. You take so much for granted because you have no idea what your freedom is REALLY worth. You may be fighting for freedom...but until you can honestly understand what it is like not to have it, you will NEVER understand why so many people will go so far to get it. And you will NEVER appreciate the situation immigrants are in. You think this is about Mexico??? NO. This is about EVERYBODY. They're not passing legislation to throw out Mexicans. They're throwing out Asians, Canadians, French, British, African, Cuban, Hindustani, Punjabi, Italian, Yugoslavian, Russian, etc, etc, etc. And you can hit me back with stats about immigrants who do nothing but take take take and I will hit you back with the counter argument that says that article was written based on less than 50 people and then generalized to fit the whole class. We may be immigrants...but we are worth a HELL OF A LOT to this country. And I won't stand for anyone telling me different.

And now that I'm off my soap box... see, I'm not really as mean as the weak and wimpy try to make me out to be, I'm just tough about politics...LOL. Ya know, in real life, I don't talk about politics. I talk about real life and real people. And maybe I'm only 20 years old, but I have seen more than life...and death...than most people could ever comprehend. I won't sit here and justify my choice to be a Democrat to you...but don't try to justify your Republicanism on burned churros, dirty khaftans, and Anne Coulter. I'd like to see a Republican cringe just once at something a Republican does...but it never happens. I cringe at Democrats all the time because they're human and they do stupid things. Republicans do a lot of stupid things too. And you can't get all wrapped up in the hype. I'll bet you know illegal immigrants and you don't even know it. I'll bet you love and cherish someone who doesn't have the right PAPERWORK to be here. But don't you think, with all that you are fighting for, that it SHOULDN'T be about paperwork but about heart??? People die trying to get to the United States. Put yourself in their shoes from all the way over in Iraq. How much do you want to come home??? How much would you give to come home??? To live happily and peacably again? That's all those people want. A life they can live their own. And since America can't speak big and carry an even bigger stick with EVERY country in the world, don't you think it should be a little more compassionate to those that seek its refuge and its splendor? America is a gift. There's no need to be selfish with it. So there you have it...I may be a Democrat...but I am FIRST and FOREMOST a humanitarian. I don't care about policies and procedures. I care about people and the value of life they are given and what I can do to help them do better. People who have so much shouldn't take away from those who have so little.

Otherwise, I think you make clear and intelligent arguments. I don't agree with you and you make my blood boil and you make me want to cry because you quote the Bible and praise God and then damn people to an eternity of nothingness.

But you write well and you don't just post an article and say "well, there it is and that's what I think." You give commentary. You give your reasons. And I respect that. It's cool. I know the comments won't come off as that, especially when you're running lines about things that you don't have full information on, or if you continue to use Anne Coulter (I don't hate her because I'm a Democrat...I hate her because she doesn't use 100% correct information...as long you do TRUTH, I'll respect you) but the point is, you're worth reading. Thanks.

PS--in an attempt to keep from personal jokes coming from the peanut gallery, I have a shy request: could you please please please remove your comment from Ian's blog about the whole girlfriend thing? I'd say I'm a lesbian and you're upsetting my girlfriend to get you to do it, but I don't want to lie. I would just really appreciate it. You can leave personal comments on my threads and I'll deal with them as I see fit...I can't do that with OTHER blogs. LOL. Thanks!

Speechie...wow...I think that might just be the longest comment in blog history!

Thanks for dropping in and please come back as I'm sure you will definitely spark up lots of great debates. Also, thanks for keeping it clean. That is the only reason I'd ever delete someone's comments b/c my mom and sister drop in often.

I'll surf over to your site and return the favor. If your site is as well written and fun as your comments, I'll also link you under my lefty blogs being it could use a little female spice to balance Ian and Southpaw. See, I do my part for gender equity...aren't you proud of me...lol

I'm impressed that you are only 20 and have such intense feelings on anything political, too bad you are on the wrong side of the issues, but I commend you for being involved at such a young age.

I can't remember who said this but I heard a quote once that said, "If you are under 30 and aren't a liberal, you have no heart. If you are over 30 and aren't a conservative, you have no brain." So, you still have a few years to learn still ;)

As far as the g/f comment on Ian's site, that was meant purely as a joke being you were defending him so much. It also was purely based on political match not acutal looks being I can't see any pics due to the firewalls here. I just went to Ian's site to delete it, but for some reason it isn't letting me. I'll try again latter.

Now that I've played nice, I'll address your comments in a separate post.

Ok...now to address your comments. You go off on lots of tangents, so if I fail to address one, my apologies...I'll do my best to cover all your misguided rants.

First, I'm not sure where you get your "ALL immigrants" are upset from b/c I've talked to and read lots about LEGAL aliens who are not happy with ILLEGAL aliens b/c the LEGAL ones took the time to do it right and feel others should as well.

Second, if someone is a citizen of this country by definition they are NOT here ILLEGALLY, so you are completely wrong in that they would be "wiped off the map too." The only ones who would be deported are the ones who are here ILLEGALLY.

Third, you really need to learn the difference between foreign aliens, illegal or legal, and immigrants who are citizens. If someone is a second or third generation immigrant, then they are legal citizens of America and they are not the people this ILLEGAL immigration debate is addressing. I've never, nor have I heard anyone in this debate, once advocate kicking all immigrants, regardless of what generation they are, out b/c that would mean all Americans (way more than the 80% number you quote) execpt the Indians being we are all immigrants if you go back far enough. I'm very proud of my Cajun roots (notice I said Cajun and not French ;) ) and I'd fight to the death if someone ever tried to write a law kicking out all LEGAL immigrants, but as that will never happen no worries there.

Fourth, ILLEGAL immigrants cannot cripple this country. I promise companies will get the job done. They won't just say, "Oh no...we no longer have ILLEGAL immigrants so we have to shut down the business." They will find a way to continue operating.

Finally, my Christian beliefs are not in conflict whatsoever with my position on this issue. If it were possible for everyone that wanted to live here to do so, I'd have no problem with that at all. However that is not possible geographically or economically. For that reason, we have laws that control the flow of foreigners who come here. There are LEGAL ways to come to this country and many are coming LEGALLY and I'm glad they are. They are more than welcome to come and pursue the American dream. As a Christian, I do my part to help other parts of the world improve, thus reducing their need to come to our country to have the life they desire of freedom and opportunity. I'm here in Iraq to help the people here realize the same freedoms (I'm not in the military, so I can come home whenever I want). I went to Kazakhstan last summer and I plan many more trips in the future to other parts of the world to help in any way I can.

Well, I don't know if I matched your length, but being I'm probably pretty close, I'll stop here. Look forward to more great debates.

Just interested in your response to this: I like when people use the proper channels of emigration as well, but what about the people in CUBA???

Cajun Tiger said...

If they can prove they are being persecuted or fled b/c their life was in danger and seek asylum then I have no problem with it at all being that is following our laws.

However where I do take issue with our current Cuba policy is how they treat the refugees differently based on where they are caught. It should make no difference if they make it to land or not. Either they are seeking asylum and thus can stay or they aren't and should be sent back. I think that is consistent with everything else I've said on this topic.

Hey, Sometimes people think I'm an alien, but don't deport me. :( HAHA

1. Shane, I'm proud of our Cajun French heritage.
2. Kane, you have always been an alien in my book.
